SirReal2 inibisce selettivamente Sirt2 tramite una rete di aminoacidi specifica per Sirt2, e induce un'iperacetilazione della tubulina e una significativa deplezione di BubR1 nelle cellule HeLa.

In vivo

In vivo, SirReal2 inibisce l'attività di Sirt2 senza influenzare l'attività delle altre sirtuine di Classe I, Sirt1 e Sirt3.
