FB23-2 si lega direttamente a FTO e inibisce selettivamente la sua attività demetilasi m6A. Mimando la deplezione di FTO, questo composto sopprime drasticamente la proliferazione e promuove la differenziazione/apoptosi delle cellule di linee cellulari di leucemia mieloide acuta (AML) umana e delle cellule blastemiche primarie di AML in vitro.
In vivo

FB23-2 inibisce significativamente la progressione delle linee cellulari AML umane e delle cellule primarie in topi xenotrapiantati.
