In vitro

La Baicalein inibisce robustamente l'ipertrofia indotta dallo stress, attenuando la segnalazione di p38 e la fosforilazione di PKD a livello della serina 744/748 (S744/748), e down-regolando il trasduttore di segnale e attivatore di trascrizione 3 (STAT3).
In vivo

La Baicalein mostra un effetto protettivo contro il danno epatico acuto indotto da LPS/D-gal tramite la soppressione della produzione di citochine pro-infiammatorie mediate da NLRP3.

    Neonatal rat ventricular myocytes (NRVMs) are stimulated to hypertrophy with phenylephrine (PE;10 M) in the absence or presence of vehicle control (Veh) or phytochemicals (apigenin (Api), baicalein (Bac), berberine hydrochloride (BHCl), emodin (Emod); All compounds are used at 10 μM) for 48 h. RNA is isolated and qPCR performed to analyze the natriuretic peptides (ANP and BNP), interleukins (IL-6, IL-1α, and IL-1β, CXC chemokine ligands (CXCL2 and CXCL6) and CC Chemokine ligands (CCL3 and CCL6).

NKILA stably overexpressed and control SMMC-7721 and HepG2 cells were treated with a series dose of Baicalein (0, 12.5, 25, 50, 100 μM) for 48 h. Then, cell proliferation was detected by Glo cell viability assays. The control condition was defined as media alone with no NKILA overexpression.
