Beschrijving Aloin (Barbaloin), een natuurlijke anthracycline uit Aloe vera, is een Tyrosinase inhibitor.

In vitro Aloin (Barbaloin), een natuurlijke anthracycline uit *Aloe vera*, is een Tyrosinase inhibitor met remmende snelheden van 2 mM. Deze verbinding vertoont een uitgesproken antiproliferatief effect bij fysiologische concentratie (IC50 = 97 µM), veroorzaakt celcyclusarrest in de S-fase en verhoogt de apoptose van HeLaS3-cellen aanzienlijk (tot 24%). Het veroorzaakt ook een vermindering van het aantal cellen dat mitose ondergaat door inductie van apoptose, remming van topo II alfa-eiwitexpressie en downregulatie van cyclin B1-eiwitexpressie in de MCF-7-cellijn.
